Parish Director
What is a parish director?
The parish director appointed by the Bishop is Karen Nesbit.
She is authorized to share in the exercise of pastoral care of the parish.
She is responsible for the following:
Spiritual and pastoral outreach to the faithful
Collaborates with parish pastoral council, trustees and finance council.
Recruits lay ministers and provides for their formation
Utilizes the experience and wisdom of the appointed Priest Moderator
Oversees the preparation of liturgies, and oversees the preparation of adults and children for the reception of the sacraments.
Takes an active role during the liturgical celebrations in the parish.
Presides at Liturgy of the Word during the week and in an emergency on the weekend when a priest is not available.
May give reflection at Mass and other liturgies according to Liturgical Norms including funerals and weddings.
Ordinary administration of parish including signing of checks, preparing the budget in concert with the trustees, maintains parish records required by diocese, and provides supervision and oversight of staff and volunteers.
Directs all aspects of parish life with pastoral team and volunteers.
Collaborates with religious education personnel, visits parishioners in hospitals, nursing homes and homebound and coordinates volunteers to do the same.
Karen Nesbit
has been a
parish director
at
St.Mark and Sacred Heart since April 2007 to the present.
She served as a pastoral associate and liturgist at St. Mary’s of Omro for ten years, St. Mary’s of Winneconne for 1 year and St. Mary’s of
Oshkosh for 3 years.
Other positions include the proprietor of a bakery, adult education coordinator, apartment manager, group home manager, special education aide, manager of a group home, and nursing home social worker.
She has a Masters of Theological Studies from
St.
Norbert
College, bachelors in Social Work from UW Oshkosh, Commissioned Ministry Program Certification from the Diocese of Green Bay and
Silver
Lake
College.
Currently an adjunct instructor for
Silver
Lake
College and Diocese of Green Bay in the area of Liturgy and Prayer.
Ed is her husband and they have four adult children and two granddaughters.
