About Us

Together in Faith!  That is our “motto” for the parishes of St. Mark and Sacred Heart of Jesus in rural Waushara County.  They are places of hospitality and welcome to all including are many summer guests. These past years we have worked hard in liturgy, faith formation, finance, and in the vision and mission of the parishes through the various committees. Throughout our work we remember:  “What we can’t do alone, we can do together” in Christ!

At the start of our gatherings we pray and at the end we remember why we are here and pray:  “Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end, amen!

May God continue to guide our journey “Together in Faith” with peace, joy, and love.

Barb Breest
Religious Education Facilitator

I have been the religious education facilitator for Sacred Heart and St. Mark parishes since 2007  and became a full member of the Catholic faith in 1982 after ten years of marriage.  I am certified as advanced catechist through the Green Bay Diocese and continue education in the Ministry Formation Program.

I worked 12 years in the traditional religious education for children at St. Peter & Paul Parish in Weyauwega. I also worked for the Weyauwega School District in the office.

Currently, we have a blended program that is intergenerational.  Both parishes meet at St. Mark for one big GOF session and a second time with their grade levels.  The best part of the Generations of Faith program is that it involves the whole parish including adults, children and their parents.

My husband, Scott, and I have three grown children and two granddaughters. We have lived in this area for thirty years and are members of Sacred Heart Parish.

At church you will often see me playing music for the masses.  At home you can find me busy in the kitchen baking or cooking.  We raise a few beef for the freezer, grow a big vegetable garden and do canning and freezing of fruits and vegetables. I like walking and outdoor activities.

Cyndi Getchius
Parishes Bookkeeper and Secretary

I began working as the Secretary/Bookkeeper at St. Mark’s and Sacred Heart Parishes in September of 2000. I am usually the person who answers the phone and greets you when visiting the parish office.

After being married in 1977, my husband, Mike, and I moved to Pearl Lake in the Redgranite area in 1978. His parents and both our grandparents were from the Redgranite area. After high school I studied to become a dental assistant. I worked in the Milwaukee area, Ripon, Berlin and Redgranite as a dental assistant for about 15 years. In the mid-1990’s I began working as a library clerk at the Redgranite Library. I continued to work at both the library and at St. Mark’s & Sacred Heart until May of 2006.

My husband and I also own a custom cabinet shop by Pearl Lake. In our spare time we like to search for and collect art glass from the 1920s to 1940s.
